Develop Series: Change Management

This short course has been designed for Newcastle University alumni and supporters navigating the evolving world of work. It will be particularly valuable for those experiencing professional change, exploring new career directions, leading others through change, considering further study such as an MBA, or just looking to build resilience and adaptability in uncertain times.

This series provides a natural stepping stone toward the #nclMBA, offering participants a chance to explore core leadership and strategic thinking themes that are foundational to advanced business study.

Grounded in leading theories of change management and resilience and informed by entrepreneurial approaches, these sessions will help you understand your personal response to change, build resilience as a creative capability, and take ownership of your career in a nonlinear world. Whether you’re managing transitions, exploring new directions, or simply wanting to future-proof your professional identity, this series will support you to think differently and flourish in the future.

Learning Outcomes

Session 1

  • Build a strategic understanding of change, informed by contemporary theories from organisational leadership and systems thinking.
  • Develop reflective insight into your personal response to complexity, a key leadership attribute in MBA-level development.
  • Explore the mindset shift from passive reaction to active adaptation, mirroring the reflective and analytical capacities nurtured on the #nclMBA.

Session 2

  • Reframe resilience as a strategic capability that supports long-term professional reinvention, an idea embedded in MBA programmes focused on leadership under pressure.
  • Engage with entrepreneurial and innovation thinking as tools for navigating uncertainty, core elements of the #nclMBA curriculum.
  • Identify and strengthen your own resilience strategies, preparing you for high-responsibility roles and the demands of postgraduate management education.

Session 3

  • Understand career development through the lens of leadership, innovation, and personal agency, key themes in the #nclMBA.
  • Connect entrepreneurial thinking to real-world career planning, showcasing the kind of strategic mindset valued in MBA applicants.
  • Create an action plan that reflects not only your current goals but the potential for future leadership development through further study such as the #nclMBA.
