Railway Management, Economics and Planning
The course is designed to teach:
- The fundamental principles defining the railway as a system
- Railway management, safety, risks and operations (passenger and freight)
- Railway economics and planning. For example; timetabling, decision-making processes related to node (e.g. stations) location
On completing this course, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the following key learning objectives:
- The way the railway system operates
- The basic concepts underpinning railway safety and operations
- The planning process and management processes
- Attendees will gain analytical and decision-making skills. These will help to understand contemporary railway operation and planning.
