Course Information

This session explores the role of patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) in shaping research questions. Co-delivered by a public contributor actively engaged in multiple research projects, the session begins with a case study of the Pre-eclampsia Prevention Resource Acceptability and Feasibility Study, illustrating how research questions can be co-developed and prioritised.

Participants will then engage in an interactive group exercise, where they will:

  • Work with a health intervention research idea.
  • Build a simple model outlining both intended and unintended effects of the intervention.
  • Use this model to generate and prioritise relevant research questions.

To conclude, participants will reflect on the diverse range of stakeholders who should be involved in the process of shaping and prioritising research questions.
