Course Information

The D/deaf awareness training developed by Deaflink North East serves as a comprehensive guide to understanding and supporting individuals with hearing loss. It is designed to educate about the nuances of D/deafness, including the varying levels and the importance of using appropriate terminology.

The training also delves into Deaf Culture, highlighting its significance and the impact it has on the British Sign Language community. Furthermore, it addresses the critical need for accessible information and communication. Practical aspects are covered as well, such as identifying and overcoming communication barriers, utilising supportive equipment and aids, and modifying environments to facilitate better communication.

This interactive training, enriched by real experiences from the D/deaf communities, is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to enhance their awareness and ability to effectively engage with people who are D/deaf.
