YCT stands for Youth Chinese Test. It is an international standardized test for Chinese language proficiency, designed to assess the ability of primary and secondary school students to use Chinese as a second language in their daily and academic life.
The YCT is divided into two independent tests: a writing test and a speaking test. The writing test consists of four levels: YCT 1-4, while the speaking test has two levels: Primary and Intermediate. The Newcastle University Confucius Institute Test Centre currently offers all levels of both tests.
What is YCT Oral Primary
YCT Oral (Primary Level) assesses the test takers' oral Chinese language skills. Those who pass YCT Oral (Primary Level) can comprehend and orally express themselves on familiar everyday topics in Chinese, meeting basic communicative needs.
YCT Oral (Primary) exam is divided into three parts, comprising a total of 25 questions. The exam duration is 19 minutes, including 7 minutes of preparation time.
Test Start Time (All local times): 11:00.
The YCT Oral Test (Primary Level) has a maximum score of 100, and a passing score is 60 or higher.
