GNSS and Network RTK

Learning Outcomes

Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of GNSS positioning, as well as the different modes available for achieving various levels of precision. By exploring common error sources, their magnitude, and effective mitigation strategies, candidates will learn how to assess and enhance the accuracy of GNSS observations. Additionally, they will develop skills in interpreting and applying real-time coordinate quality indicators during fieldwork. Coverage of coordinate systems, datums, and transformation principles will deepen candidates’ appreciation for the range of systems available and the critical distinctions between them. This course emphasises practical skills, with hands-on experience using real-world data and direct references to industry-standard documentation on best practices for Network RTK.

Course Agenda

  • Day 1– GPS overview, modes of positioning, error sources
  • Day 2- How GPS positioning works, Urban environment positioning, coordinate systems, datums and
  • Day 3- Advanced error sources, Network RTK theory and practice, future developments in GNSS transformations

This course can be integrated with our other CPD course in High Precision GNSS.
