This programme is open to people and organisations based in the North East and North Cumbria, as well as those from the following organisations:

At the end of the module, a learner will be able:

To identify the Social and Medical models of disability, evaluate the use of different models and their impact on the lives of disabled people, and recognise how the medical model perpetuates oppression and keeps disabled people in a Circle of Dependency
To identify barriers that disabled people face when receiving services, understand how the social model identifies how barriers affect disabled people, the impact on their lives and on the goal of inclusion within society, and recognise that many disabled people may face multiple oppression due to Intersectionality
To outline examples of barriers to independent living and inclusion in their own life / department / organisation and to identify and analyse appropriate solutions
