Navigating Intersectionality & Public Involvement

Eligibility Criteria

This programme is open to people and organisations based in the North East and North Cumbria, as well as those from the following organisations:

  • NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)
  • NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC)
  • NIHR Innovation Observatory (IO)
  • NIHR Research Support Service (RSS)
  • NIHR Policy Research Unit (PRU)
  • NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN)
  • NIHR HRC in Diagnostic and Technology Evaluation (HRC)

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module, a learner will be able to:

  • Understand intersectionality
  • Consider their Public Contributors’ multiple social identities
  • Understand the benefits the time to find the right team
  • Have an awareness of our ‘rear view mirror’ as researchers
  • Consider bias in study designs
  • Understand the extra resources in reaching the margins
  • Being to power, positionality, and safety
  • Be introduced to the concept of cultural humility
