Introduction to Industrial Control Systems

This course is designed to give you a hands-on understanding of industrial control systems and their key components, including sensors, actuators, and controllers like PLC and SCADA systems. Throughout the course, you'll engage in practical exercises where you will connect sensors, actuators, and controllers, and configure Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for a DC motor control system. You will also work with sensor configurations, such as temperature and proximity sensors, to ensure you gain a comprehensive skillset for real-world applications in industrial automation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify the fundamental components of industrial control systems
  • Recognise the different communication protocols and control strategies
  • Design a basic control system using PLCs, and HMI
  • Apply practical skills to connect and configure sensors, actuators, and controllers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve common issues in sensor-actuator networks
  • Course Agenda

This two-day course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of industrial control systems (ICS). Participants will explore the essential components of ICS, including sensors, actuators, controllers, and communication networks, and gain hands-on experience in programming and integrating these systems. The course is tailored for those new to the field as well as professionals looking to enhance their knowledge of automation and control in industrial environments.
